Chocoholics Aren’t Weak Willed

The health benefits of eating dark chocolate have been praised for centuries, but the exact reason has remained a mystery — until recently.

Researchers found that certain bacteria in the stomach gobble the chocolate and ferment it into anti-inflammatory compounds that are good for the heart.

Chocolate contains a number of beneficial ingredients. For instance, resveratrol, an important compound in chocolate, may not only protect your brain and nervous system, but actually prolong your life. Proving that chocoholics perhaps aren’t weak willed, they are actually doing something good for their health.

However, it is best to stick with only dark, organic, unprocessed chocolate. The closer the chocolate is to its original raw state, the better it is for you.

How much chocolate should you eat?

Researchers found that eating one small square of chocolate two or three times a week, will give you the best health benefits.
