Tips On How To Wear Lipstick With Chapped Lips

Chapped lips are the worst!! It’s that annoying dead skin that usually ends up getting bitten or tugged off. Now your lips are bleeding, they’re sore, they are raw and soon they will be crusty again. Worse no lipstick seems to ever make your lips look lush and beautiful. No matter what colour or how moist the brand of lipstick, it’s going to look awful on. Those dry bits of skin sticking out but now with colour on and you’re thinking nobody wants to kiss you either. It’ll be like locking lips with sandpaper.

Don’t dispaire because with with a little DIY touch, you’ll be able to apply matte lipstick and get the smooth finish you’re after. Chapped lips are a condition that can be avoided by following a few steps and strategies that will  keep your lipstick looking smooth all day long.

1. Exfoliate

Grab your favourite lip scrub or make your own. Here’s how to make a simple lip exfoliator since it’s actually the easiest thing in the world to make and who doesn’t like to save some bucks? We found this recipe in everyday roots site.

To Make Your DIY Lip Scrub You will need…

-A tablespoon of brown sugar or white sugar
-A dash of honey (just enough to make the sugar really stick together) OR a bit of olive oil/coconut oil
-A teeny tiny little drop of vanilla (it makes it smell yummy, but isn’t necessary.)
-A small container

Mix it all together till you have a smooth paste.

Once a week, twice at the very max, rub the scrub onto your lips, vigorously enough to loosen the dead skin. Let it sit for 1 minute, and then wipe off with a damp washcloth.  It’s important not to use this too much-our lips are fragile after all-but it really does the trick getting rid of all that dead peeling skin and revealing the soft skin underneath.

2. Moisturize

Now that all the peeling skin is gone, apply lip balm before applying any color. Another good lip moituriser to apply is coconut oil –  it’s rich and very norishing. Next rub your lips with a  lip primer that locks down lip color and prevents fading, bleeding, and creasing.

3. Apply Your Favourite Lipstick
