3 Changes That Will Happen to Your Body After Birth

Pregnancy is a blessing to many women. It’s something that they have prepared for as soon as they heard the good news. But, there are details to giving birth that many women might not be aware of. For example, if you’ve been spending a lot of your time standing when you were pregnant, then you’re likely to develop swollen ankles after giving birth. If you want to know more about the stuff that other pregnant women didn’t tell you, then read on. These are the 3 changes that will happen to your body after birth.

1. A bulge in your belly

Some women think that the moment their babies have left their tummy, it would go back to its original size or at least it would become smaller. But, in reality, it will take some time before your tummy goes back to its original size, and that’s if you actively work on it and go on a diet.

This is why some women opt for a tummy tuck and other reconstructive surgery to get back the form they once had before they were pregnant. Fortunately, there are many treatments for this kind of thing called mommy makeovers. Salt Lake City has many clinics that provide makeover treatments for women who just gave birth so try looking for your preferred treatment there.

2. Enlarged feet

After giving birth, don’t be surprised if you find that your shoes no longer fit you. That’s because you gained extra pounds when you were pregnant and your feet had to compensate for the additional weight.

According to scientists, women who gave birth changed their foot size permanently because of the weight of the baby. When a woman adds extra pounds during pregnancy, her feet adjust to the weight and the arch flattens to make it more comfortable.

Also, a hormone called “relaxin” causes the feet to enlarge. It is tasked to relax the muscles and ligaments in a woman’s body in preparation for childbirth. It also relaxes the feet and elongates them to accommodate the extra weight.

3. Hair loss

Another unfortunate adjustment women undergo after they’ve given birth is hair loss. However, it’s nothing to worry about because it only means that your body is trying to return to its normal state.

According to scientists, a woman’s body has high amounts of estrogen when she’s pregnant. Not only is this good for the baby, but it’s also good for the mother’s hair because high amounts of estrogen will keep the hair from falling out. But, after giving birth, that estrogen level will drop and return to its normal state. This means that your hair will start to fall out because your estrogen level is no longer high enough to prevent hair loss.

Fortunately, your estrogen level will eventually normalize and your hair loss will end. All you need to do is ride it out and wait for a few months for your hair to stop falling out. Usually, it will take about six to 12 months for your hair to start growing again.

These are just some of the changes that will happen to your body after giving birth. Some can be remedied while others are permanent, but you can take comfort in the fact that they’re sort of your badge of honour and joy for giving birth.
