A new trailer for Netflix’s The Witcher confirms the release date

There’s not much longer to wait, peeps!  A new trailer for Netflix’s upcoming fantasy series The Witcher has just dropped and it confirms the series’ release date. The Witches, based on Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, will be available to stream on the 20th of December.

This new trailer for Netflix’s highly anticipated series focuses on Geralt’s relationship with other characters in the show. It looks in more detail into Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) the lead character. He’s called a mutant created by magic who hunts monsters. The trailer gives a glimpse into the world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witches, gnomes, and monsters fight to survive and reveals some intense action scenes.

If you were wondering, Netflix’s The Witcher isn’t actually a direct adaptation of the games. But instead, an adaptation of the book series the game franchise is based on.

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who is overseeing the series and is best known for her work on The Umbrella Academy and The Defenderstold Entertainment Weekly in July that her show purposely strays away from the video games. She said: “They went one direction, we actually get to go another,”

Similar to Games of Thrones, the series is filled with plenty of epic battles, mythical creatures, intriguing politics, sex and nudity.

There are some big names behind this series, Superman himself, Henry Cavill, Jodhi May, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, MyAnna Buring, Emma Appleton, Lars Mikkelsen, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte, Anna Shaffer and many more.

Maybe this is the show that will fill the void Games of Thrones has left since finishing, hoping it will.
