Active Approach-5 Life Adjustments That Can Keep You Fit Without Realising It

Many people struggle with the idea of being active and fit. Some say they lack the time, some that it’s a waste of time while there are also those who are simply too lazy to do anything about it. Except, open a bag of chips and flick through Netflix. Binging Netflix shows actually became their cardio. In reality, there are easy ways to embrace the active lifestyle bit by bit without feeling like you’re being tormented.

Don’t wait for the bus

One of the most common ways people fail to add more steps into their day is by using public transport. If you can arrive safely at your workplace and at a reasonable time, try to avoid using public transport. The amount of money you save on bus fare can be invested in comfortable walking shoes. The female readers might be frowning upon this idea, especially if you love heals. You can carry your favourite pair of heels and change shoes once you arrive at your workplace.

If you’re still working from home due to the pandemic, you can take a walk around the neighbourhood, just to kickstart your metabolism from sedentary to active. Once you finish work, you can repeat this routine in order to wind down after work.

Prioritize meals over being busy

Another trap of leading a busy lifestyle is a poor diet, skipped meals, and a lot of takeouts. Not only do daily takeout orders expand your waistline, but they also eat out your budget. Even if the price of healthy eating is the same as the cumulative price of takeouts, it’s healthier and won’t cause you diabetes or a heart attack.

Prioritize meals over being busy by planning your meals in advance. You’ll need to go shopping twice a week and learn how to batch cook. You probably know how to cook already, so that won’t be the issue. The only thing you’ll have to adjust is the way you prepare your food so that you can prepare several healthy meals at once. If for one reason or the other, you don’t have a prepared meal for the day, you can still find a healthy option delivered to your home or the office.

Improve your fitness with games

A game a day keeps the doctor away! That is, you can stay active and improve your health by playing games like ping-pong, badminton, tennis, group sports like basketball or volleyball. Any outdoor game that requires you to run around or walk at a quicker pace, qualifies for a fitness-like activity. You can swap your regular coffee dates with squash or a walk around a local lake.

Fitting in fitness into your day

Changing your daily routine by implementing all of these little tweaks won’t get you from lazy to fit. They will help and support you on your lifestyle journey, but they aren’t the magic fix to all your problems. You need to schedule your workouts into your daily routine. Schedule them in advance just like you would a dentist’s appointment. Treat your workouts with the same importance as anything else in your life. If you are one of those people who say they can’t find the time and hate the crowded fitness centres, there’s also a viable alternative. You can exercise at home, on your own or with the help of professionals. Guided online exercise classes that happen in real-time over the Zoom app are all the rage now and you can explore the benefits of exercising this way.

Ask a friend to join you

If you are one of those people who need both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation to make a lifestyle change, and accountability buddy can make it easier for you. Instead of just giving this person orders to check up on you and act as a healthy lifestyle interrogator, why not ask a friend to join you. At least one of your friends struggles with quarantine weight gain. By proposing this idea to both your female and male friends, you’ll hand out a helping hand and motivate them to start instead of wallowing in self-pity. Everything is figureoutable, just like Marie Forleo would say. Come up with weakly goals for both of you and don’t get discouraged if you don’t reach them at times. Times are tough and we need to go easy on ourselves.

These five ideas are just some available ones that can help you keep yourself fit. Ditch the transport, eat better, play games, work out at home and find support and you’ll see how your life will improve.
