How Much is Your Knowledge Worth?

There is an old saying that knowledge is power. People will go to great lengths and expend a great amount of energy in order to gain information and knowledge.

We are willing to pay dearly, even at the risk of our own lives in order to gain information. Whether we are talking about battle tactics and strategies in war or decoding the Human Genome, we all long to learn and grow in our knowledge and we are willing to pay for it.

How much is the knowledge you have worth? Perhaps you think your knowledge is not worth that much, or perhaps you believe you have knowledge worth millions.

The question is, how can you monetize and disseminate what you know?

The Internet more than any other media has created the opportunity for humanity to not only share knowledge but to monetize and profit from that knowledge and information.

Many of us have knowledge in certain areas but we simply don’t know how to monetize it. We may post up video tutorials on YouTube or simply make blog posts on Reddit which explains what we know about something – we don’t have to earn points on these platforms but points don’t pay the bills – until now.

Into the fray of knowledge acquisition and the transfer sale of information and expertise has come a new player – Knowledge.io.

Knowledge that Pays

Knowledge.io allows people to actually generate revenue from sharing information instead of just earning points. Expected to open in January 2018, this potential revenue stream will come in the form of tokens.

These tokens are a digital currency that knowledgeable people can earn and then use to purchase services on the Knowledge.io platform.

The initial coin offering for these tokens will be launched on January 15th, 2018. There will only be 50,000,000 tokens offered for sale to the public on this date. The funds raised by this sale will help the platform grow bigger in its development.

Making Information Accessible and Profitable

This decentralized Knowledge platform is blockchain-based and allows knowledge seekers and contributors to come together and share quality information.

The knowledge seekers will then reward the contributors with the tokens, based on how valuable the information is.

Steven Englander, who is the co-founder of the platform, says the future goal of the platform is to make it so knowledge can be passed around freely between all the stakeholders.

These would be the knowledge seekers, providers, and advertisers. Once they learn this new information that was shared with them, they can apply it to various industries like education and employment.

You may be familiar with other knowledge sharing platforms which currently exist right now. One popular example is the social media network for professionals called LinkedIn.

This platform allows knowledgeable people to publish their skills on a personal profile page where employers and recruiters can find them.

LinkedIn has gotten so popular that they’re operating income per year is now $1 billion.

As previously mentioned, Quora is a popular knowledge sharing platform where people share points for information. It is a fast-growing website with lots of knowledgeable contributors, but they’re unfortunately not making any money.

Instead, platforms like this only reward the contributor with positive comments, upvotes, and social sharing.

Making the Most of New Technology

The Knowledge.io platform aims to help these contributors actually earn something valuable, such as revenue.

In other words, the Knowledge.io platform will be a rewards system that rewards contributors for their knowledge in their particular area of expertise.

The way it works is simple. Advertisers connect with contributors and then reward them with tokens for their shared knowledge with other users. From there, you can take these tokens and purchase services with them in the Knowledge marketplace.

The Knowledge platform will be suitable for people of all ages. If you’re a young student in high school or college and you have advanced knowledge in a particular subject, then you can earn tokens by sharing that knowledge with others who need it.

With all the educators wanting to use this platform, students may be able to pay their entire college tuition with these tokens in the future.

Knowledge tokens are considered to be virtual currency only. This means it is not government-backed legal tender that you can use in the real world. You also don’t get any of the consumer protections for your token balance that you would for a regular monetary account balance.
