“Onward” is the latest Pixar Adventure

“Onward” is the latest Pixar Animation Studios adventure which stars Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, and Octavia Spencer.

This magical and colourful family fairytale is populated by mythical creatures such as elves and pixies instead of humans. “Onward” introduces two teenage elf brothers who live in a modern town with cars, smartphones and electricity.

In Onward, Ian (Tom Holland) and Barley (Chris Pratt) Lightfoot are elf brothers in a world that’s very similar to ours but inhabited by fantasy creatures like centaurs and unicorns. This is a modern town full of electricity, cars and mobile phones a world we’re familiar with. Which has long supplanted the magic of wizards- once there used to be magic in this world, the prologue explains, but technology came along that made things much easier and to an extent forget the existence of magic.

The story begins at Ian’s 16th birthday, which is when his lates father arranged a gift; a wizard staff and a spell that would bring him back for a day. The brothers set on a journey to find a magic jewel to cast a spell to bring their dearly departed father back to life for one day.

This is a movie to be enjoyed with the whole family during this challenging period.
