Scientists Invented ‘Second Skin’ That Makes Wrinkles Disappear

There are countless cosmetic skin products out in the market that promise to smooth out wrinkles and rid of skin blemishes, but reality is they have very little results. However, now there might be something that makes the wrinkles under your eyes disappear.

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University published a report in the journal of Nature Materials on Monday about a product that can take some of the signs of aging away — at least temporarily.

The “second skin” is made from an invisible elastic film that is easy to apply straight on the skin and already tested on 170 participants who didn’t report of any allergic reaction. This material is made of  polymer that is strong, stretchy and adherent, just like the real thing.

Professor of biological engineering, Robert Langer, a co-author on the study, which is published in the journal Nature Materials said:

“It’s kind of like an invisible Spanx that you could put on skin,”

We’ve put it on human beings. It’s adherent and mechanically strong. Its easy to apply.”

“We created a new material that is safe,”

This product can be both used to treat and coat the skin and could possibly be used for cosmetic and medical purposes. This new material will diminish the appearance of wrinkles under the eyes and the forehead by making the skin seem firmer. It can also help treat a handful of skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis by protecting dry, patchy skin, keeping it hydrated and covered.

The human skin changes over time as the result of diseases, aging and environmental conditions. That can lead to a loss in skin function and changes of appearance. This product will be the ‘miracle’ potion we all have been waiting for. However, it will not be available straight away, it is expected for this product to be on the market in a few years.
