TripAdvisor has announced the world’s 10 top destinations in the seventh annual Traveller’s Choice awards, with Marrakech at the top of the list for the first time ever.
The list is based on the millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travellers. A combination of low average booking rates and fantastic traveller reviews on TripAdvisor has helped Asia, Africa and Eastern European destinations steal the place of old favourites like New York and Rome.
Who are the new comers to 10 top destinations around the world?
1. Marrakech

Marrakech, which came in number one, is widely referred as to as ‘Red City’. It lies in Morocco’s south western region.
The name Marrakech, which means “Land of God”, is the third largest city in Morocco, after Casablanca and Rabat, and lies near the foothills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. It is a few hours from the foot of the Sahara Desert. Its location and contrasting landscape has made it an enviable destination in Morocco.
2. Combodia

Siem Reap is located in northwestern Cambodia and is fast becoming a popular resort town. It’s a fast growing city with hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. The Angkor Wat temple is the central feature and contains the magnificent remains of the Khmer civilization.
