Travel Tips You Need To Know Before Visiting Italy

What we know about Italy through its food and other things are totally different from how the country actually is! First of all, this century-old city’s actual name is Repubblica Italiana, with Rome as its capital.

Moreover, maybe Italy is not as updated as other techno-pro countries like Japan, but 98% of Italy’s population is literate and they can read and write English. It is already getting interesting, so without wasting a moment, let’s jump into the travel tips regarding the city, right away!

1. If you haven’t had Gelato in Italy, you’ve literally had nothing!

“Its Italy, that means every Gelato is heavenly!” – Anonymous

Gelato is originated from Italy, so it is quite understood that you are going to get the best form of Gelato can always be found in Italy, but this travel destination too, has its own fair share of bad Gelatos too!

So it is highly advisable that you choose your Gelato wisely. There are prominent, many variations of Gelato in the country. While in Venice, it is possible that you can get a different taste of Gelato whereas, in Florence, the taste is completely different from the one you savoured in Venice.

2. Take a power nap during the Riposo time, because that’s what entire Italy does!

Now, this travel tip is serious! Riposo, in Italy, simply means the time when shops and services close down from 1 pm in the afternoon till 4 pm in the evening. It is the time when the shop owners and other working people go home, take rest and spend quality time with their family members.

As the lifestyle of the Italians is very free-flowing and simple, therefore they take their Riposo time very seriously. So, if you planning to have Lunch by 2 in the afternoon, or even thinking about a late brunch, then you are at a great disadvantage because you will hardly find any shop open by then.

On the contrary, scheduling your breakfast by eight in the morning and your lunch by 12 is an excellent travel tip, you are going to need in Italy. However, if your appetite doesn’t match the timings of Italy, you can surely keep a stalk of some fast foods, dry foods along with you.

3. Do not tip the waiters because ‘Coperto’ has covered that part!

Italy is literally one of the best food hubs in the world, so their main occupation is hospitality. The country administrators know that very well, and therefore you do not need to tip every waiter or the chef because Italy law makes sure you pay for the service you get in the country.

Which makes us head towards ‘Coperto’. It is kind of a service charge which they automatically fetch from you by merging it with your bill. It can range from 1 Euro to 5 Euro as well and not because you are a tourist. This law is for everyone here in Italy. But, it is a cool idea that tipping! Don’t you think so?

4. Cappuccino is for everyone!

This is perhaps, one of the best travel destinations, which does not distinguish their audiences in terms of elite or commoner. Cappuccino and espresso outlets are scattered all over the country.

I think coffee is one of the best things that they make and they are very affordable there. If you are taking a walking tour around the city, do not forget to get some of the best cappuccinos and espressos in the whole world.

5. All the lanes and roads, finally meet in Rome!

Yes, this is not a humorous joke but it is actually true. No matter how many detours you make, or whichever city you want to go in; you will finally need to go through Rome!

I do not know about the roadway system there, but I am pretty sure that it must have been the outcome of some tactical planning during Roman Empire Rule. It literally does not make any sense, wherever you go, Rome will eventually find you.

So Grazie for reading this blog, and ciao till we meet once again!
