Well Groomed Man Earn More According To Research

We all want to earn more money than what we currently are. Apparently, it’s all in our reach according to research,  and it comes down to grooming, gentlemen! Shaving and sporting a clean cut look might be healthy for your wallet.

Researchers from the University of Chicago and UC Irvine found that well-groomed men earn an average of $14,000 more than their scruffier counterparts.

The study followed 14,600 men and women, straight out of college and into the professional world, over the course of 13 years. During that period of time, participants were interviewed four times and rated on their attractiveness and how well-groomed they appeared. This data was analysed and compared with their salaries.

What researchers found was a correlation between attractiveness and how much money they made, and the mean difference was $14K.

Who knew a simple razor some deodorant and nice clothes could make such a big impact on your salary?

The published report explains this correlation as follows:

We find that attractive individuals earn roughly 20 percent more than people of average attractiveness, but this gap is reduced when controlling for grooming, suggesting that the beauty premium can be actively cultivated”

This was even more pronounced in women than men. Well-groomed but unattractive women earned $36,000 on average, while poorly-groomed but unattractive women made just $14,000.

Taking care of yourself does pay, literally MORE.  So take the time to fix yourself people, the rewards are definitely worth it.
