Home Base – 5 Expert Tips for Finding the Perfect Office Space for Your Business

No two businesses are exactly alike, meaning a one-size-fits-all approach to office space is bound to fail. Instead, it’s crucial to assess your unique circumstances to find an office solution that will fit now; while allowing your business to grow and expand. Read on for five tips that will help you select the ideal office.  Home base – 5 expert tips for finding the perfect office space for your business.

1. You can have the best of both worlds

If you want to be in the heart of the CBD for a fraction of the cost; serviced offices, and coworking spaces are going to be your best bet. Type “shared office space South Melbourne” or “coworking spaces Sydney CBD” into your preferred search engine, and make a short list of buildings to go check out.

Depending on your needs and budget; you can secure a spot in a shared working space or your own private office or suite of offices. The beauty of these buildings (apart from being centrally located with a host of helpful amenities); is that you aren’t locked into any contracts. So, you can scale up or down as and when needed.

2. Consider your team

A CBD location is a great idea if you’re a sole trader. It also works well if your team is scattered around the city; as most public transport lines lead into the center of the city. However, it’s still worth chatting with your team to find out what will work best for them. You may discover that a location outside of the CBD will suit everyone better. You may even discover that some team members can carpool. Regardless of how it works out, you’ll find settling into your new office far easier if everyone feels that they were given some say in the decision.

3. Assess the office amenities

Some office buildings provide nothing more than an office suite, leaving you to provide the rest. Others offer fully stocked kitchens, gyms, bookable boardrooms, and other impressive amenities. So be sure to factor these features into your decision-making. Once again, bring your employees in on this part of the process. A gym is all well and good, but if your team doesn’t like the facilities, it won’t have any real value to your business.

4. Explore the surrounding streets

Once you have a good idea of what’s available to you and your team in the building, it’s time to explore the surrounding streets to see what’s within walking distance. Are there cafés, restaurants, supermarkets, and corner stores? Are there parks and natural spaces

As with the previous points, it’s worth consulting with your team to find out what’s important to them. This way, you can narrow down your search to include only those offices that are nestled in suitable areas.

5. Talk to other tenants and your potential landlords

It’s easy to feel rushed when you find a space that seems to tick all your boxes. However, even the most beautiful office can become a nightmare if you have a problematic landlord or lax security in the building. The best way to avoid getting stuck with such issues is to spend time getting to know the landlord and any other tenants in the building.

Even if you’re leaning toward a serviced office or coworking space, it’s worth taking this step. Chat with other business owners in the kitchen or break rooms to see how they feel about the space. Is it meeting their needs? Are there any problems with the building? How are complaints addressed?

Follow these tips, and you’ll soon be settling into your perfect office, ready to make the moves that will drive your business to success.
