Money can buy almost anything

Money can buy almost anything

We talk about money all the time, how to get it, spend it, or save it. Money is important of course, without it we’d have no roof over our heads, food in our stomach and clothes on our backs. Money can buy almost anything, money allows us to do and have things, but for all things money can buy there are quite a few things that it can’t buy. Even if you have all the money in the world there are some things that you’ll never have with money alone.

So what can’t money buy?

Here are 7 of the most important things that money cannot buy:

1.  Time

Money can’t buy lost time. Time is the only currency in the world we spend but can never make or get back. Time cannot be forged, stolen or borrowed. No matter how much money you have time is a currency that you can buy more of, once spent is lost forever.

2.    Love

Love unlike sex cannot be bought; true love is a deep emotion that binds two souls forever. It comes from mutual respect, caring for each other, shared experiences and growing together. Money can bring suitors your way with interest only in the depth of your bank accounts and not your love.

3.    Happiness

Money can buy you copious amounts of material goods and it can buy you fun and fleeting joy – a new car, a holiday, a boat – but it can’t buy you true happiness that comes from liking yourself, having stable relationships and a loving family.

 4.    Health

Money can buy healthcare and medicine, but it can’t replace health once it’s lost.

5.    Youth

Money can’t buy back your youth. No amount of money spent in plastic surgery and cosmetics can bring back you youth and your body’s ability to do anything easily and look good doing it.

6.    Talent

Money certainly can nurture talent, you can buy coaching or lessons to become better at anything but you can’t buy talent.  You can learn to do things but the gift or talent to do anything effortlessly can’t be bought.

7.    Legacy

Money is no legacy; true legacy is the result of a lifetime of accomplishments, a life full of success, of purpose and some considerable failures along the way.  Legacy leads to change that affects a great number of people. Money might be used in trying to fulfill a legacy but money on its own is not a legacy.

It’s important to realize that there are things that are completely unaffected by money, even if you didn’t have any money you still would have your family, health, your gifts and abilities because these are not determined by how much money you have. Money is important but perhaps not the most important thing in the world.
