Studies say 2 glasses of wine before bed helps you lose weight
If you prefer a good Cabernet over cardio, you’ll be delighted with this news. According to two studies, 2 glasses of wine before bed helps you lose weight. One study was undertaken at Washington State University and the other at Harvard Medical School. If this sounds appealing to you read on
How can this possible?
Apparently, there’s a polyphenol called resveratrol in red wine that transforms “white fat” into “beige fat”. Unlike “white fat”, “beige fat” is a version of fat that is much easier to burn off, say researchers at WSU. More amazing yet, a 13-year study Harvard University study, which looked at 20,000 women over the course of 13 years, found that those who drank two glasses of wine daily were 70 percent less likely to be overweight. AMAZING.
But why particularly at night then, you ask?
Another study found that resveratrol also helps suppress your appetite, which means that after a glass or two of red, you’re much less likely to raid the fridge for a late-night snack and you’ll sleep like a rock.
Drinking in moderation is key, warn the experts and excess consumption will not benefit your waistline. A study funded by the Wellcome Trust found that male and female binge drinkers had larger waistlines.
If a glass of red wine doesn’t take your fancy, there are other major sources of resveratrol which include blueberries, strawberries and grapes. In addition, there are serious health risks linked to over-indulgence, such as an increased incidence of breast cancer
However, if a glass of red wine doesn’t take your fancy, there are other major sources of resveratrol including blueberries, strawberries and (obviously) grapes.
