We are pretty sure that by now you’ve realised airports can get very busy. But how busy do they really get? And which global airports have the most flight movements – find out here.

Addison Lee decided to let the numbers do the talking. Their mesmerising new 24hr aircraft tracker brings to life the daily aircraft movements of some of the world’s largest and not so large airports.

The aircraft interactive graphic below shows relatively 10 different global airport’s daily take-offs and landings, calculated by a breakdown of their seasonal data and the figures are pretty astounding. In just 60 seconds, less than the time it takes to brush your teeth, most of the major international airports have already shipped or received at least one flight.

For example, Heathrow on average will ship 1,304 aircraft per day, that works out a roughly 54 per hour.
