Agra Fort
Another historical monument to be visited in Agra is the Agra Fort. It is listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is merely at a distance of 2.5 km from the Taj Mahal. Agra Fort was built by Mughals and its hugeness makes it look like a walled city. It is built beautifully in the Mughal style of art and architecture. The Pearl Mosque, Diwan-i-Aam, Moti Masjid and JahangiriMahal are found within the premises of Agra Fort. The Fort is entirely built of Red Sandstones and has a luxurious architecture. It is also said to be one of the most visited tourist spots in Agra. The exciting fact is a tourist can get a splendid view of Taj Mahal from the Agra Fort.
Tomb of Akbar
The Tomb of Akbar, in Sikandara, is a significant architectural masterpiece of the Mughal Dynasty. The Tomb is the final home of the Great Emperor of India, The Akbar. What makes this Tomb distinct from other Muslim King’s tomb is that it faces towards the rising sun instead of the Mosque of Mecca. The construction of this Tomb was supervised by Akbar himself, but completed by His son Salim. The historical creation of the Tomb is done gorgeously from sandstone and a portion from marble. The Tomb is surrounded by an immense green garden. At a little distance of about 1km, Akbar’s wife tomb is also located. The Tomb is built in a vast area of 119 acres and is a centre of attraction for art lovers.
